Great Oak won its seventh Division 1 boys title, moving into sole possession of third place all-time in California prep history, with a 67-80 victory against San Clemente at the CIF State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno. Senior Mark Cortes covered the 5-kilometer layout in 15:23.5 to place ninth, senior Ramses Cortes secured 16th in 15:32.7, junior Gabriel Rodriguez took 19th in 15:34.5, seniors Nathan Lennox (15:43.3) and Austin Elkins (15:43.7) placed 25th and 26th, respectively, junior Jeffrey Keeney achieved 40th in 16:00.2 and senior Nick Gaffney grabbed 57th in 16:08.8 for Great Oak, which captured its first championship in three years after winning six consecutive titles from 2014-19.
